
Voting by post. Anyone who is elegible to vote the London
elections can choose to vote by post. Read more to find out how to
do it.

Step 1(a): Registering to vote by post
Anyone can vote by post in the 2008 London elections.

Contact your local council's election office to get an
application form or download one from www.aboutmyvote.co.uk
Step 1(b): Registering to vote by post
Complete the form and send it to your council's election office
by 5pm on 16th April 2008

Step 2(a): Voting by post
Your council will send you three ballot papers, a Postal Voting
Statement form and two envelopes. These will arrive in the weeks
before the elections on 1 May 2008.

Step 2(b): Postal Voting Statement
You must complete the Postal Voting Statement or your votes will
not be counted.

Step 2(c): Postal Voting Statement
Enter your date of birth and sign the form using a black
pen.

Step 3(a): The Mayoral ballot paper
Vote for the Mayor of London using the pink ballot paper.

Step 3(b): The Mayoral ballot paper
You have a first choice and a second choice for Mayor.

Step 3(c): The Mayoral ballot paper
Vote for your first choice candidate with one mark (X) in column
one.

Step 3(d): The Mayoral ballot paper
Vote for your second choice candidate with one mark (X) in
column two.

Step 4(a): The Constituency Member ballot
paper
Vote for your Constituency London Assembly Member using the
yellow ballot paper.

Step 4(b): The Constituency Member ballot
paper
You have one vote. Mark a cross (X) next to your choice of
candidate.

Step 5(a): The London-wide ballot paper
Vote for the London-wide Assembly Member contest using the
peach-coloured ballot paper.

Step 5(b): The London-wide ballot paper
You have one vote. Mark a cross (X) next to your choice of party
or candidate.

Step 6(a): Returning your vote
Fold your ballot papers in half and place them in the evelope
marked 'A'. Seal envelope 'A'.

Step 6(b): Returning your vote
Put the sealed envelope 'A' and the signed Postal Voting
Statement into envelope 'B'. Seal envelope 'B'.

Step 7: Posting your vote
Your ballot papers and signed Postal Voting Statement must reach
your local council by 10pm on 1 May 2008.
